Mental math tricks — that actually make sense

A list of "tricks" without understanding is fragile: under pressure, you forget the formula. Every method below comes with why it works, when to use it, when not to, and a live practice so the pattern moves into long-term memory.

And the real superpower isn't any single trick — it's knowing which one to reach for. Train that directly in the Strategy Trainer.

Tricks vs. shortcuts: same thing, different name. This library covers both — we keep one page per method instead of scattering near-duplicates, so each method earns real depth.

How to actually get good

  1. Read one method and its why — 5 minutes.
  2. Do the inline practice right on the page until it feels automatic.
  3. Hit the 60-second test — speed under pressure is where fluency sticks.
  4. Return tomorrow for the Daily Challenge — ten mixed questions keep every method fresh.
